What it costs to buy a property

The purchase price is only part of what you need to buy a property. Stamp duty, conveyancing, building and pest inspections, loan establishment fees, mortgage registration and moving costs all need to be covered, usually before or at settlement.

This calculator adds up the likely upfront costs so you know how much of your savings will go toward the deposit and how much will be absorbed by fees. If your deposit is under 20% of the price, lenders mortgage insurance may also apply.

Costs vary by state and by your circumstances. First home buyers may be eligible for stamp duty concessions or government schemes that change the numbers considerably. An NLG broker can check what applies to you and how it affects the loan you need.

Results are estimates for general information only. They are not credit advice and do not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Speak with an NLG broker before making a decision.
