What a comparison rate shows

The advertised interest rate does not tell you the full cost of a loan. Application fees, ongoing account fees and settlement costs all add to what you pay. A comparison rate combines the interest rate and most fees into a single percentage so two loans can be compared on equal terms.

Enter the loan amount, term, interest rate and fees for each loan you are considering. A loan with a slightly higher rate and no fees can work out cheaper than a lower rate carrying annual charges, particularly on smaller loans.

Comparison rates do not capture everything. Features such as an offset account, redraw or the option to make extra repayments have real value that a single number cannot show. An NLG broker can weigh those features against cost for your circumstances.

Results are estimates for general information only. They are not credit advice and do not take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. Speak with an NLG broker before making a decision.
